Melissa Domiati

Melissa survived a near death experience, by Royal Flying Doctor rescue, resulting in a year of learning to walk, a pivotal time in reassessing her life’s direction. Her poetic reflections, culminated in her writing collections around women’s empowerment, love, loss and the sacred inner space inside us.

Melissa has been writing poetry since childhood, on anything she could get her hands on – her favourite being the smooth bark of the paperbark tree.

Her unique playful way with words has been described as approachable and profound. Her first solo collection of poetry ‘Flowers from the Farm’ was published in February 2024, a best seller across the globe. Melissa Domiati through her playful poetry invites us to let shadows fall behind and ‘make room to bloom’.

Melissa holds degrees in Commerce, Arts (English & Comparative Literature) and Education. Most importantly she has a genuine love of helping others express themselves through the written word.

She has shared her love of words across the globe, leading students and educators in Vietnam, Japan & China, most recently reading on stage in the Bowery Poetry Club in New York City.

She is a proud member of Wa Poets Inc, Writing WA, Fellowship of Australian Writers and Perth City Farm writer’s group.

Workshops & Poetry Readings

‘Flowers from the Farm’ explores empowerment and encourages others to write. It has been enjoyed by many people who are not traditionally into poetry. Melissa holds degrees in Literature and International education, teaching ATAR English & Literature, together with ESL students across the globe has made her poetry very accessible, whilst still incorporating traditional poetic techniques in a somewhat playful manner.

She fervently believes that there should be more poetry in the world to help people share their own authentic voices and to distil life’s challenges.

Personally, she writes to breathe and finds it the most cathartic endeavour and enjoys leading workshops such as this to help others write their life through poetry.
